Your front teeth really matter, and they matter for a few different reasons. Firstly, they allow you to take that first delicious bite of whatever you are eating. They also help you speak clearly to express yourself, and of course, they play a big role in how your smile looks. When these teeth become damaged or decayed, we don’t have to use an unnatural-looking metal crown to repair them. At Parkfield Dental, we can utilize a more elegant and beautiful solution using metal-free, all porcelain restorations.
Dental porcelain is an extremely strong and durable material, but it can also be shaped and shaded to mimic natural enamel in almost every way, even down to how it reflects light. Whether you need a crown, bridge, inlay, or onlay, we can us this material to create a restoration that is so lifelike, even YOU will have trouble seeing where your tooth ends and it begins.
Beyond looking spectacular, porcelain restorations also have another advantage by being metal-free: they are resistant to temperature. Metal restorations can make the teeth more sensitive to hot and cold; plus, they expand and contract which can eventually cause a tooth to crack. With all-porcelain restorations, these problems stop being a factor.
How Can I Get a Metal-Free Restoration?
As with all of the services we provide, the first step is to schedule an appointment right here at our Austin office. Dr. Tijerina will examine your teeth and determine if a metal-free restoration is the best fit for your smile. Once that is decided, the entire procedure can usually be completed in just two appointments:
- At the first one, your dentist will shape your tooth to fit the crown, take an impression, and send this off to a dental lab to design and fabricate the crown. They’ll give you a temporary crown while it is being made.
- About a week or so later, you’ll return to our office to have the crown placed. Your dentist will do one final check of its color, its fit, and how your bite aligns before sending you on your way.
After that, your new smile will be ready for the world! Contact us today if you’re interested in learning more about metal-free restorations and what they could do for you.
