Invisalign – Austin, TX

A Transparent Path to Straight Teeth

More and more people, younger and older, are trying to fix misaligned teeth. In the past, the traditional route of metal braces was the only solution to transforming crowded, misaligned, rotated or gapped teeth. Of course, this treatment is not for everyone, especially if you’re a working professional. That’s where Invisalign comes in. Thanks to their transparent qualities and flexibility, Dr. Tijerina can easily get you started on your path to a brand-new smile without the setbacks associated with braces! Call his office to learn more about the process.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a service specifically designed to solve minor to moderate levels of misalignment, crowding, gaps or uneven bites. With millions of people treated, including a large percentage of teenagers, its series of custom-made aligners is clinically proven to achieve effective results when properly used. Instead of relying on metal components that need to be tightened at regular orthodontic appointments, each pair of aligners is created in advance and then swapped out every few weeks. The aligners themselves are made from medical-grade plastic and are BPA-free. It can be used by both adults and teens trying to straighten teeth.

How Does Invisalign Work?

During your consultation, Dr. Tijerina examines your smile and determines what issues need to be addressed. Afterwards, he’ll work with an Invisalign supplier who will design and fabricate your aligners from start to finish. This way, he can monitor your progress and confirm if your teeth are shifting as planned. Each pair is designed to target specific areas of your teeth, just make sure to wear them for the required amount of time for optimal results.

The Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign offers many benefits that you wouldn’t find with traditional braces, including:

  • Faster treatment time (averaging between 8 and 18 months)
  • Fewer necessary follow-up visits with our office
  • Easier oral care
  • The ability to eat the foods you want
  • A more aesthetically-pleasing treatment experience

Caring for Your Aligners

To ensure no hiccups in your treatment, it is crucial that you properly care for your aligners. This includes letting them soak in Invisalign’s own blend of cleaning crystals or in a similar denture cleanser solution for at least 15 minutes at a time twice a day. This can easily be done while you complete your routine oral care. Use a dedicated toothbrush to remove additional plaque and keep them transparent. Do not use hot water to soak them as this can permanently warp their shape, making them unusable. Replacement aligners can only be acquired at our office.

Are You a Candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign has been increasingly ideal for a wide variety of orthodontic issues. However, treatment is not for everyone. If you have severe levels of misalignment, especially in your back teeth, you may want to consider traditional orthodontic methods to treat your smile. If you see yourself struggling to wear the aligners for the required amount of time (between 20 and 22 hours per day at minimum) then a fixed option may be more appropriate. If at any time we notice your teeth not shifting as planned, we’ll go over your habits and help you any way we can to make treatment easier.
